Charlotte L. Rutledge

Charlotte L. Rutledge, 87, of Albany, GA died January 16, 2019 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Monday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Chris Ogden and Dr. Henry Rutledge will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Sebring, FL, Mrs. Rutledge was a high school graduate and received her degree in culinary arts and custom dress-making from Albany Technical College. She won many 1st and 2nd place ribbons at the State Fair for her sewing entries. She had lived in Albany since 1964, enjoying her life as a military wife. Mrs. Rutledge worked as a seamstress for Fri Tex and attended Liberty Parkway Church of God. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-five years, Gunny Sgt. Ret. Henry Wayne Rutledge, Sr. and siblings, Walter Waldron, Sidney Waldron, Florence “Mackey” Hughes, Rueben Waldron, Perry Waldron, and Wesley Waldron (infant).

Survivors include her children, Vivian Lashley of Albany, GA and Dr. Henry W. Rutledge, Jr. and his wife, Vickie of Salisbury, NC, her brothers, Rev. John Waldron and his wife Brenda of Fanning Springs, FL, Jerry Waldron of Chipley, FL, her sister, Corrine McRoy and husband Jerry of Moore Haven, FL, her grandchildren, Monica Lashley of Albany, GA, Jennifer Rustin and her husband, Greg of Albany, GA, Victoria Carter and her husband, J.D. of Eastman, GA, Henry W. “Bubba” Rutledge, III and his wife, Ashley of Panama City Beach, FL and Matthew Lael Rutledge and his wife, Maegan of Boston, MA, nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The family will receive friends on Monday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
