Charlie Henry Sanders, 73, of Albany, GA., died Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held Monday, January 4, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Andersonville National Cemetery. Rev. Ben Crowdis will officiate.

A native of Ft. Gaines Mr. Sanders has resided in Albany since 1987 moving from Randolph County. He was a veteran in the Vietnam War serving in the United States Air Force, and served in the Merchant Marines. Charlie was employed with URS as a heavy mechanic at MCLB and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Smith Sanders of Dougherty Co., GA., seven sons Charles Patrick Sanders (Jennifer) of Randolph Co., GA., James Franklin Day (Patricia) and Curtis Allen Day (Velinda) both of Lee Co., GA., Calvin Wayne (Debra) Peavy, John Marion Peavy, Thomas Byron Peavy, and Charles David (Leisa) Peavy all of Cuthbert, GA., five daughters Virgie Marie Boring (Bill) of Newark, OH., Charlena Maulden (Jack) of Randolph Co., GA., Arlinda Jean Bradshaw (Mike) of Calhoun Co., GA., Sandy Scarborough (Steve) of Early Co., GA., and Kathy Bell of Baker Co., GA., two brothers Robert Sanders of Clay Co., GA., and Randy Sanders of Abbeville, AL., three sisters, Charlotte Cashwell of Blakely, GA., Darlene Bishop of Ft. Gaines, GA., and Jean Norton of Shorterville, AL., twenty one grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Sunday, January 3, 2016 from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
