Charlie W. Carver US Navy, Ret.

Charlie W. Carver, (Command Master Chief, US Navy, Ret.) 87, of Albany, GA, died May 17, 2019 at his residence.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 21. 2019 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Deacon George “Smitty” Johnson will officiate.  Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Andersonville National Cemetery with Military Honors.

Mr. Carver was a native of Morgan, GA and was born to Charlie E. and Wilma A. Carver on October 14, 1931.  He graduated from Edison High School and joined the United States Navy.  He served his country for thirty years and during Korea and Vietnam.  Mr. Carver was stationed in Albany in 1967 and retired in 1974. 

After retirement, Mr. Carver attended Albany Technical College and opened his own business, Carver Maintenance Service.  He was a member of the American Legion Post # 30, the Veteran of Foreign Wars # 2785, the Loyal and Protective Order of The Elks # 713, the Loyal Order of The Moose # 1285 and he was a Master Mason.  He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Carver of Albany, GA, four children, Suzanne (Matt) Buchanan of Spokane, WA, George (Judy) Carver of Norcross, GA, Michael (Dawn) Carver of Jasper, GA and Christopher (Rachel) Carver of Marietta, GA, two brothers, James Carver of San Jose, CA and Lucius Carver of Adel, GA, grandchildren Taylor Carver, Madison Carver, Megan Carver, Anna Carver, Conner Hollifield, Reagan Carver, Todd Buchanan, Kelli Buchanan, Loren Buchanan,Megan Buchanan and several great grandchildren. 

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
