Charles Kenneth (Ken) Smith, 80, of Albany, GA, died November 25, 2014. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye and Jon DuMond will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. The American Legion Post # 30 will provide Military Honors.
A native of Philadelphia, PA, Mr. Smith graduated from North East High School in Philadelphia and graduated from Trenton Technical School with a degree in Drafting and received his Associate's Degree from Albany Junior College. He served in the United States Air Force during Korea and was stationed in Greenland and at Turner Air Force Base in Albany, GA where he met his wife, Catherine Barksdale Smith.
Mr. Smith was the Staff Manager for Interstate Life Insurance Company, the Manager of Gulf Life Insurance Company and retired from American General Life Insurance Company. He was of the Methodist Faith and was a lifetime member and Past Exalted Ruler of The Benevolent and Protective Order The Elk, Lodge # 713 in Albany, GA.
Survivors include his wife, Catherine Smith and his daughter and her husband, Cathy and Ralph Bradley all of Albany, GA, a grandson, Christopher M. Covington and his wife, Katie and their three children, Jack, Nathan and Lilly Catherine Covington, all of Roswell, GA. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Leona Smith, his brother, Allen Carl and his sister, Dorothy Greavs.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Mathews Funeral Home.
