Charles J. (Chuck) Simpson

Charles J. "Chuck" Simpson (GySgt US Marines, Ret.), 79, of Albany, GA, died January 24, 2016 at the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow Friday at 10:00 AM at The Georgia National Cemetery in Canton, GA.

A native of Decatur, IL, Mr. Simpson joined the United States Military and served twenty years in The United States Marine Corps. After his retirement, He joined the Albany Police Department and served for thirty four years retiring as Corporal in 2007. In 2014, Mr. Simpson was chosen as the Albany Police Department's Citizen of The Year. He was a member and Past President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge # 2 and he was a member of the Flint River Model Railroad Club.

Survivors include his wife, Jennifer J. Simpson of Albany, GA, two sons, Michael Simpson of Albany, GA and Scott Simpson of Athens, GA, a daughter, Angela Barrett and her husband, Jeffery of Canton, GA, his grandchildren, Dylan Simpson, Zack Barret, Jack Barrett and Delilah Barrett all of Canton, GA.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Mathews Funeral Home.
