Charles Fredrick Joseph Sehl

Charles Fredrick Joseph Sehl, 80, of Leesburg, GA died Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at Phoebe North Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 21, 2017 at 12:00 p.m. at Andersonville National Cemetery, Andersonville, GA. Rev. Paul Ladda will officiate.

Born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, Mr. Sehl was born to the late Harold Sehl and Marie Spencer Sehl. He served and retired in the United States Marine Corps from 1955 to 1975 serving in Vietnam in 1968. He moved to the Albany, GA area in 1995 and worked as a golf professional at the Twin Oaks Golf Course until retiring in 2004.

He was an avid automobile racing fan and worked as a volunteer starter at race tracks throughout the southeast for the SCCA. Once a Marine, always a marine, he enjoyed spending time and socializing at the logistics base in Albany, GA He was a member of the VFW Post # 2785 and The Loyal Order of Moose.    

He was a member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Victoria C. Gratz.

Survivors include three sons, Louis Charles Sehl (Pat), Redwood City, CA, Gordon F. Sehl (Beth), Wadsworth, IL, Stuart J. Sehl, Beach Park. IL, a , Paul Sehl, Hamilton Ontario, Canada, two sisters, Margaret Allard, Hamilton Ontario, Canada and Verda Sehl, Toronto, Canada and six grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday 5 to 7 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
