Charles Eugene Harrell

Charles Eugene "Gene" Harrell, 70, of Albany, GA, died April 14, 2013 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery with military honors.

A native of Albany, GA, born to the late Julius and Ida Corine Harrell, he graduated from Albany High School in 1961 and joined the United States Air Force. Mr. Harrell served for twenty years and was a veteran of Vietnam. After he retired, he returned to Albany, GA and was employed by the United States Post Office until his retirement after twenty eight years of service. He was a Baptist by faith and a former member of the Loyal Order of the Moose.

Survivors include his wife, Alice F. Harrell of Albany, GA, a daughter, Pam L. Johnson of Leesburg, GA, three grandchildren, Delilah Nageotte and her husband, Joe of Athens, GA, C. J. Johnson and Chance Johnson both of Leesburg, GA, a great-grandchild, Aiden Johnson and a sister, Margaret Burchett of Ashland, KY. He was preceded in death by a son, Chris Harrell in 2000.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
