Charles R. (Son) Drinkwater, 84, of Albany, GA, died Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at Wynfield Park Health and Rehab. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 26, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at First Free Will Baptist Church. Pastor Billy D. Hannah and Pastor Terry Pierce will officiate. Interment will follow in New Light Free Will Baptist Church, Calhoun Co., GA.

Born in Morgan, GA, Mr. Drinkwater had resided in Morgan, GA all of his life until he moved to Albany, GA in 2011. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Army and he was retired from Sears after forty years of service. His devotion to his family and his firm belief in God supported him in his struggle and ultimately gave him peace. He was immersed in the Christian community that would be his lifelong support from an early age. Charles was blessed with a large and loving family. He was known as a handy-man around the house and community, always helping others in need. He took pleasure in enjoying God's creation, basking in the sun, and fishing at every opportunity. From the time he was a young boy he excelled in athletics and played in many church leagues. His passion for genuine gospel praise music lasted even to his last earthly moments. He was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church of Albany and was preceded in death by his parents, Raleigh Elmore Drinkwater and Nannie Lou Blanton Drinkwater and a son, Marcus Remar Drinkwater.

Survivors include his wife, Edwina W. Drinkwater, Albany, GA, a son, Dannie Drinkwater (Shirley), Lee Co., GA, a daughter, Mary Ellen Harpe, Morgan, GA, four step daughters, Darlene Jackson (Boyd), Terrell Co., GA, Carol Priest (Johnny), Lee Co., GA, Valerie Powell (Bobby), Albany, GA, Susan Loach (Ken), McDonough, GA, seventeen grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at First Free Will Baptist Church.
