Cecil Thomas Frazier, 81, of Putney, died on March 2 after a lengthy illness.
Visitation will be Monday, March 4th at 6 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The funeral service will be 1 p. m. on Tuesday, March 5 at Mathews Funeral Home with burial in Riverside Cemetery with Military Honors. The Reverend Chris Turner will officiate.
Born in Leary, Calhoun County Georgia, Mr. Frazier was the oldest of seven children born to Clyde Thomas Frazier and Ossie Mae Frazier. Mr. Frazier enlisted in the U.S. Navy at age 17 and served 20 years, retiring E-8, Senior Chief Petty Officer. Mr. Frazier served in 5 campaigns during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1969, receiving numerous medals and being awarded the Combat Action Ribbon.
Mr. Frazier married Mary Joann Jones in 1959.
Upon retiring from the Navy, Mr. Frazier enrolled in college, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Georgia Southwestern College at age 40.
Mr. Frazier applied his degree in the field of real estate, becoming a licensed broker and opening C. Thomas Realty, buying and renting numerous houses.
Mr. Frazier is survived by a son, Steven Thomas Frazier of Canton, Georgia, and a daughter, Lita Joann Gamble, of St. Marys, Georgia; three sisters, Arlene Goolsby of Americus, Sandra Hayes and Linda Oxley, both of Albany; two grandsons, Sean Thomas Frazier of Kennesaw, Georgia and Christopher Ray Gamble of Statesboro, Georgia. Mr. Frazier is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Joann Frazier.
