Cathy Ann Johnson

Cathy Ann Windham Johnson, 64, of Albany, GA died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday, October 23, 2017 at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Cathy was born in Albany, GA and had been a life-long resident. She was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Darton College. She was an avid athlete and actively continued with her sports until the day of her death. She was heavily involved in ASA League softball, and was a level 4.5 USTA and league women’s, doubles, mixed and combo tennis player for many years, always equally admired for her positivity and kindness as her competiveness on the fields and courts. Cathy worked with the Albany Police Department, and then was a driver for UPS for over thirty years. She was of the Baptist faith and was preceded in death by her grandparents, George Gardner and Isabelle Gardner and her father Bob Windham. Survivors include her mother, Bobbie Jean Windham, two daughters, Jessica Johnson Tagey (Keith), Chipley, FL, Jennifer Johnson Campbell (Trey), Savannah, GA, three brothers, Butch Windham (Janet), Albany, GA, Rick Windham (Jennifer) and Bert Windham (Leigh) all of Leesburg, GA, two sisters, Susan Isabelle Windham, Conyers, GA, Nancy Windham Waugh, Toomsboro, GA and two grandchildren, Ada Rose Campbell and Taylor Oliva Tagey. The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. The family may be called on at 1408 Tenth Avenue, Albany, GA, 31707.
