Catherine E. Willis Spillers, 71, of Leesburg, GA, died September 28, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside funeral services will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at the Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Steve Williams and Rev. Greg Ware will officiate.
A native of Albany, GA, born to the late Louise and Jefferson Davis Willis, Mrs. Spillers spent eleven years with her family in Ft. Lauderdale, FL before returning to spend the rest of her life in the Albany and Leesburg area. She graduated from Albany High School in 1958 and studied at the Carl Vinson Institute of Government at UGA.
Mrs. Spillers served as the Leesburg City Clerk and Municipal Court Judge for thirty four years
and was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg, GA. She was involved for many years with the Lee County Recreation Department and was an avid animal lover. Mrs. Spillers was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Spillers, a son, Scott Spillers and a special aunt and uncle, Norman (Dutch) and Bernice Eisenacher.
Survivors include her son and his wife, Donnie and Rebecca Spillers of Leesburg, GA, her grandchildren, Katie Spillers and Jake Spillers of Panama City Beach, FL and Tasha Wescott of Leesburg, GA, her sisters-in-law, Jewel Durr of Leesburg, GA and Faye Godfrey and her husband, Tom of Homestead, FL, a brother-in-law, George Spillers of Leesburg, GA, a special friend, Valerie Stevens and her husband, Tony of Leesburg, GA and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:00 PM. until 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
