Catherine Annette Coogle, 85, of Oglethorpe, GA died July 13, 2016 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 11:00 AM at the Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church. Pastor Barbara Koch will officiate. A private burial will follow at the Oglethorpe City Cemetery.

A native and lifelong resident of Oglethorpe, GA, Mrs. Coogle was born to the late Grady Cheek and the late Lucille Tennant. She was a graduate of Oglethorpe High School where she was a star basketball forward. She graduated from Tift College in Forsyth, GA where she received her Education Degree.

Mrs. Coogle was a teacher with Macon County Elementary School and Southland Academy in Montezuma, GA. She was later employed with Council on Aging and the Department of Family and Children Services in Macon County, GA. Mrs. Coogle was a member of Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, participated with the Grace Circle, administered the Foundation Fund, and served as a council member. She was also an active member of the Oglethorpe Garden Club and the McKenzie Memorial Club where she was an avid golfer.

Mrs. Coogle was preceded in death by a son, Edward C. Coogle Jr. and her husband of 57 years, Edward C. Coogle Sr. Survivors include her daughters, Ann Coogle of Dublin, GA, Sarah Coogle Dawson and her husband, Mike of Cornelius, NC and two grandchildren, Megan Dawson and Price Dawson.

The family will receive friends at her residence at 2481 Coogle Road. Mrs. Coogle will lie in state one hour before the funeral at Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations to the Foundation Fund c/o Mt. Zion-St. Luke Lutheran Church, 401 N. Randolph St, Oglethorpe, GA, 31068.
