Carrie Michelle Obey

Carrie Michelle Obey 54, of Smithville, GA, died Feb. 10, 2022 at her residence.  A Celebration of Life service will be held Friday, Feb. 18, 2022 at Mathews Funeral Home. Mark Schlabach will officiate.  The family will receive friends Friday from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the funeral home.

Mrs. Obey was born Feb. 28, 1967 in Washington, D.C. She was the daughter of Joan Elizabeth Fradelis and the late William Franklin Eugene Kendrick.  She was a graduate of Frankfort High School in Ridgely, West Virginia and received her Bachelor's Degree from Army Management Staff College in Gettysburg, MD.  Carrie served two years in the U.S. Army.  She attained the role of Senior Strategic Human Resource Management Advisor for the U.S. Army during her 28 years of service.  Throughout this time and many assignments both stateside and overseas Carrie worked in Korea at the Civilian Personnel Actions Center (CPAC); worked in the Expeditionary Civilian Workforce in Support of Combat Operations in Afghanistan; and worked for the Veteran’s Administration in Gainesville, FL.  Carrie loved animals, enjoyed cooking, catering, interior decorating, painting, photography, traveling the world, and most of all her family.

Survivors include her husband US Army MSG(R) Russell Obey Jr. of Smithville, GA, her children USAF TSGT Tyler C. Wiggins & (TSGT Shelby C. Wiggins); Trevor A. Wiggins & (Tiaya Vaughn); step-children Israel A. Obey and Justina R. Obey; siblings, Carla Kendrick-Brown & (Mark Brown); Roberta Davis & (Ronnie Davis), and her grandson Titus Obey Wiggins.

Carrie was preceded in death by the late Leo G. Wiggins, grandmother Carrie Elizabeth Jordan, and her step-father David Fradelis.  She is survived by a host of family members to include aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews whose lives she touched and will continue to brighten with her memory.
