Carolyn Polk Horton, 78, of Albany, GA died Monday, December 12, 2016 at her residence. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, December 17th, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Albany (145 Oakland Parkway, Leesburg, GA 31763) at 12:00 PM. Pastor William "Butch" Knight will officiate.
Born on August 10th, 1938 in Gainesville, FL, Carolyn had resided in Albany for the past five years, moving from Wilmington, NC. She was a retired librarian at Riverside Elementary School in Orange County, FL. She was passionate about art, music, literature, and history. She often made a point to give cultural experiences to her children and grandchildren. Carolyn was a member of the First Baptist Church of Albany and was preceded in death by her parents, William Penn Polk and Hilda Smith Polk.
Survivors include her husband Irvin E. Horton, Albany, GA; son, Reynolds Horton (Susan), Albany, GA; son, Kirby Horton (Kay), Thomasville, GA; daughter, Karen Harum (John), Wilmington, NC; sister, Edith "Sissy" Wilson (Milam), Trenton, FL; seven grandchildren, one great grandchild, and a host of other relatives.
The family will receive friends after the service at their residence, 2102 Edgewater Drive, Albany, GA 31707.
