Carole Ann Harper

Carole Ann Harper, 72, of Lee County, GA, died February 16, 2019 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.  Ross Powell will officiate.  Interment will be held in Elwood, IN.

A native of Elwood, IN, Mrs. Harper was born on April 27, 1946 to Mazie  Knick Groover and the late Harold Groover.  She graduated from Wendell Wilkie High School in 1964 and was a member of the Sigma Alpha Chi Sorority.  Mrs. Harper moved to Albany, GA in 1981 and was a mom, wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker and was employed with K Mart Department Stores.

She loved to read, do crossword puzzles, word searches and adult coloring books.  Mrs. Harper loved a beautiful yard, feeding and watching birds and spoiling her family.  She also collected Angels and their nickname on the Bowling League was the “Slow Movers”.   She was preceded in death by her husband, Max H. Harper.

Survivors include her two girls, Lisa Harper of Albany, GA and Kerry Beecher of Lee County, GA, her mother, Mazie Groover of Elwood, IN, her dog, Pepper, four grandchildren, Justin (Jessica) Harper of Coco, FL, Steven (Maggie) Rose of Hoover, AL, Maggie Beecher and Hannah Beecher of Lee County, GA, her great-grandchildren, Haley Morgan Rose and Ayden Jayce Hart, a sister, Linda (Bob) Fogle of Winamac, IN, a brother, Rick (Cindy) Groover of Elwood, IN, a sister-in-law, Beverly Amos of Columbus, OH and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
