Carl Clayton Thompson

Carl Clayton Thompson, 84, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 in Lake City, FL. His family will receive friends at 3:00 pm Friday, February 2, 2018 at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, GA, with a Celebration of Life to follow at 4:00 pm. Born in Mitchell County, GA on May 9, 1933, Carl was an Air Force Veteran, an avid pilot, and a Master Electrician. He retired after a career with M & M Mars Corporation, returning to his first love in aviation. He was preceded in death by his father, Clinton L. Thompson, his mother, Rosa Lee Davis Thompson, his siblings, Vera Hatcher, Violet White, Merle Hatcher, Earl Thompson, Margaret Barksdale, Reva Davis, and Shirley Williford Odom. Survivors include his three children, Susan Thompson Whitmer (Bob), Cathy Thompson Pope, Jeff Thompson (Dana), granddaughters, Catherine Pope, Jordan McEachern, and Aubin Whitmer, grandsons, David Pope, Jr. Clayton Pope, Sam Pope, Hayden Eastis, Jacob Thompson, Noah Thompson, Aaron Thompson, who will serve as honorary pall bearers, and great-grandchildren, Ryleigh Ann McEachern and William Sobczak. In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in memory of Carl Clayton Thompson to Advent Christian Village, Good Samaritan Center, P.O.
