Carl Neil Morey, Sr

Carl Neil Morey, Sr., 61, of Lee County, GA, died October 16, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 19, 2013 at 2:00 p.m.at the First Baptist Church of Leesburg. Rev. Bobby Harrell will officiate. Interment will follow in the Leesburg Cemetery.

A native of Tampa, FL, Mr. Morey grew up in Lester, GA and graduated from Mitchell County High School in Camilla, GA. He was retired from the City of Albany as a gas meter supervisor and was employed part time with the Albany Auto Auction. Mr. Morey was a member of the Albany Bass Club where he held all of the club positions and was named sportsman of the year. He was also selected as volunteer of the year with Easter Seals of South Georgia. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Leesburg and the Pastor's Sunday School Class.

Survivors include his wife, Clare Morey, his sons, Carl (Candi) Morey, Jr., Jason (Hope) Morey and Scott (Sara) Carroll all of Lee County, GA, his mother, Helen Morey of Albany, GA, his brothers, Curtis (Loraine) Morey of Ocala, FL and Harvey (Barbara) Morey of Albany, GA, two sisters, Nancy (Jim) Burns of Land O' Lakes, FL and Julie (Harry) Dickerson of Albany, GA, four grandchildren, Gemily Morey, Grace Morey, T.C. Morey and Sailor Carroll. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter Carlton Morey and a sister, Sandra Simmons.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Friday at Mathews Funeral Home.
