Captain Rudolph Lavon Carter, 86, of Albany, GA died Monday, November 27, 2017 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, December 1, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Ernie Beckwith will officiate. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. at Springhill Christian Church Cemetery, Ochlocknee, GA. Born in Thomasville, GA, Captain Carter had resided in Albany, GA for the past sixty-six years and was retired from the Dougherty Co. Police Department. He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Ramsey Carter and Alma Davis Carter, his wife Nora Mae Beckwith Carter, and his brother, James Carter. He was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include his two daughters, Linda Diane Leslie (Mike) and Alice Faye Godwin (Steve) all of Albany, GA, a brother, Ralph Carter, Tallahassee, FL, a sister Alice Faye Throckmorton, Oceanside, CA, four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. The Dougherty Co. Police Department will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
