Calvin Landas Hortman, 82, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, May 25, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Steve Williams and Deacon McCorvey will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.
Born in Reynolds, GA, Mr. Hortman had resided in Albany, GA since 1949 moving from Roberta, GA. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the Air Force. He was a member of Mending Hearts Chapter 165, retired owner of Hortman's Grocery Store and Hobby Craft, a member of the Fisherman's Sunday School Class and Byne Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Louise Frasier Hortman and a special niece Carol Hollomon.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Woodard Hortman, Albany, GA, daughter, Barbara Grubbs and husband, Andy Grubbs, Sr., Macon, GA, son, Harris Cook and his wife Jean, Port Richey, FL, two grandchildren, Andy Grubbs, Jr. and his wife Shanna, Auburn, AL, Bobby Grubbs and his wife Cyndy, Macon, GA, three great-grandchildren, Maddy Grubbs, Emma Grubbs and Haleigh Grubbs, two special nieces, Diane Hall, Newton, GA and Marlene Hall, Thomaston, GA.
The family will receive friends at Mathews Funeral Home Wednesday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.
