Burton A. Thomas, 91, of Albany, GA, died April 5, 2018 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Charles Jones will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery. American Legion Post # 30 will provide Military Honors.
A native of New Haven, CT, Mr. Thomas graduated from Norwalk High School and served in the United States Navy during World War II. After his service, he was employed with Roberk Company for twenty years before he moved to Albany, GA in 1971. Mr. Thomas was employed with Prestolite Wire Company in Tifton writing their Quality Control Manual, and he retired from the Marine Corps Logistic base as a Production/Quality Control Expert.
He was a member of the Amateur Radio Club and the Commodore Club. He enjoyed golf and computers. He and his late wife, Dorothy P. Thomas raised four children. He was preceded in death by his son, Paul Thomas and his sister, Joan Rieker.
Survivors include his children, Barbara Kodz and her husband, Peter of Shelton, CT, Carolyn Anderson and her husband, James of Albany, GA, Earl Thomas and his wife, Linda of Leesburg, GA, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home.
