(Buddy) Robert Nelson Thomas, III

(Buddy) Robert Nelson Thomas, III, 54, of Albany, GA passed away peacefully Monday, June 4, 2018 at his residence. Memorial services will be conducted Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Central Baptist Church in Albany, GA. Rev Greg Davis will officiate.

Buddy was born in Albany, Georgia and was a lifelong resident. He started his education at Dougherty County Schools before moving on to Albany Technical College and Darton College, where he received his Associate of Science in Emergency Medical Services and Associate of Science in Nursing, respectively. He entered the workforce at Harvey’s and Piggly Wiggly prior to his medical career, but also owned and operated his own business, Thomas Lawncare, for several years into his chosen path. Buddy worked in EMS for 22 years in various South Georgia counties, including Lee County and Dougherty County. He began his nursing career in 2008 and continued it until 2017. During this time, he worked for Dialysis Clinic Inc. and Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany, as well as Accountable Nursing Agency at South Ga Medical Center in Valdosta and Medical One Staffing at Macon Coliseum.

Buddy was a great father, husband, brother, son, friend, and provider for his family. He loved the Lord, his family, EMS, nursing, hunting, fishing, working outdoors, and camping with his family. He was also a member of Central Baptist Church. Buddy was preceded in death by his father, Rev. Robert Nelson (Bud) Thomas, Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Janet Baxley Thomas of 23 years, his two sons, Tyler Thomas and Blake Thomas, his mother, Gloria Hardy-Thomas, a brother, Forrest Thomas and his wife, Kathy, as well as a sister, Cindy Thomas Davidson and her husband Wesley.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Central Baptist Church in the fellowship hall.

In lieu of flowers, those desiring may make donations in memory of (Buddy) Robert Nelson Thomas, III to Central Baptist Church or to Willson Hospice House.
