Brenda Story Galloway

Brenda Story Galloway, 74, of Lee County, GA, died August 9, 2024 at the Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 am at Porterfield Methodist Church. Rev. Chuck Knight will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Brenda was born on August 21, 1949 in Tifton, GA to Lum and Hilda Story. She grew up in Shingler and Albany and graduated from Dougherty High School in 1967. After graduation, Brenda was employed with Friedman’s Jewelers and Carlton Company. She met her future husband, Bob Galloway, while they both were living at Nottingham Apartments. It was love at first sight and they married in 1982. Together, they owned and operated Berney’s Tire Service for 30 years. 

Brenda embodied both outward and inward beauty. She lived out the fruit of the spirit with love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. 

Brenda was a member of Porterfield Methodist Church and loved to cook and entertain. She also enjoyed decorating, traveling and being with her many friends. In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her son, Kyle Patrick Galloway, a step-daughter, Shannon Hurlock and a brother, Lum Story, Jr.

Survivors include her husband Robert F. “Bob” Galloway of Lee County, GA, two brothers, Martin (Alesa) Story of Acworth, GA and Keith (Pam) Story of Findley, OH, her step-grandchildren, Stephanie (Clayton) Simpson and Brandon (Meghan) Hurlock all of Tipton, IN and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 13, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home.
