Bobby Charles Owens, 67, of Lee County, GA, passed away January 24, 2015 at his residence. A memorial service will be conducted Friday, January 30, 2015 at 11:00 am at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Bruce Roberts will officiate.

Bobby was born in Mitchell County GA and served with the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He was Postmaster in Omega, GA from 1986 until his retirement in 2003. Bobby was a former member of First Baptist Church in Camilla and most recently attended New Covenant Church in Tifton, GA. Bobby loved cooking, gardening, and fishing, and was a member of Southwest Georgia Sportsman's Club. In 2000, he was inducted in to the Mitchell County Sports Hall of Fame for his excellence in high school sports, especially football where he still has unbroken records. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Emory D. Owens Jr. of Abbeville, AL.

Survivors include his wife Sharon Owens, three daughters Lesli (Darrin Shoaf) Rowe of Waleska, GA, Dusti (Stephen) Prisock of Canton, GA, Christi (Greg) Massey of Tifton, GA, a stepdaughter Mandy (Dennis) Moore of Lee County, GA, three grandchildren Josh Jordan, Lauren Prisock, and Owen Prisock, two step grandchildren Madelynne Joiner and Austin Joiner, and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends following the services at Mathews Funeral Home.
