Bobbie Jean Windham

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Windham, 84, of 2607 Homestead Avenue, Albany, GA, died Thursday, July 4, 2019 at her son’s residence, after a lengthy illness. Visitation services for Bobbie Jean will be held Monday July 8, 2019, between the hours of 6:00 p.m. thru 8:00 p.m., at Mathews Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow at Riverside Oakview Cemeteries. Serving as pallbearers are Butch Windham, Bert Windham, Ricky Windham, Mike Gardner, Gary Peek and Fred Wells.

Mrs. Windham was born and raised in Albany, attending local schools. She was of Baptist faith, a member of Beacon Baptist Church, in Albany. She had resided at her Homestead Ave home since 1958. She is preceded in death by her parents, George and Isabelle Gardner, her brother Vernon Gardner, her husband Bob Windham, her daughter Cathy Ann Johnson and a granddaughter Wendy Lynn Sherman. She retired as Office Manager of Gayfers Department Store.

All during her lifetime Bobbie Jean was a very athletic and a competitive person, playing City League Basketball and Softball into her early sixties, her husband Bob coaching and daughter Cathy playing together as team members.  She always loved growing flowers, especially daylilies, giving many away to others as a token of friendship and love.

Survivors include her sons, Butch Windham and wife Janet, Ricky Windham and wife Jennifer and Bert Windham and wife Leigh, all of Albany, GA. Her daughters include Susan Windham of Atlanta, GA and Nancy Windham Waugh of Toomsboro, GA.

Bobbie Jean was blessed to have a large number of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren. The family will gather at 2605 Homestead Avenue, Albany, GA.

The family would like to give special thanks to her hospice caregivers, Lisa Seymour and Kerry Beecher of Pruitt Hospice, Cordele, GA.
