Bobbie Oates Carter, of Albany, GA died Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at her residence. Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, May 31, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Michael McBride and Rev. Steve Williams will officiate. Interment will be Monday, June 1, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mrs. Carter was born in Americus, GA and had resided in Albany, GA since 1951. She was a member at Byne Memorial Baptist Church since 1955. She was a worker in the Deaf Department for fifty plus years and taught hundreds of people sign language and was a member of the Georgia Baptist Conference for Deaf, having served as vice president, secretary, treasure and historian. She was a member of the Georgia Association of Deaf and a member of Day Women on Missions at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Fred W. Carter, Sr., a son Fred Wayne Carter, Jr. (Debbie) all of Albany, GA, David Bruce Carter (Carol), Douglasville, GA, Mark John Carter (Janet), Winterville, GA, Phillip Lee Carter (Beth), Colbert, GA, five grandchildren, Michael Carter (Kendra), Canton, GA, Fred Wayne "Chip" Carter, III (Madye), Albany, GA, Kristin Ley (Adam), Monroe, GA, Stephanie Carter and Clifford Carter both of Douglasville, GA, three great-grandchildren, Samantha Carter and Presley Carter, Canton, GA, Carter Ley, Monroe, GA, a brother, James Oliver Oates (Pennie), Dothan, AL, a brother-in-law, Charles D. Carter (Mary), Brentwood, TN, nieces, Paula Norton (Keith), Albany, GA, Judy Luckey, Panama City Beach, FL, Debbie Sharder (Terry), Franklin, TN, nephews, Reid Oates (Karen), Cobbtown, GA, Chuck Oates (Shannon) Mobile, AL, Charles Carter (Phillis), Decatur, TN.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
