Blanche Ruth Smallwood Dekle, 89, of Albany, GA died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Pruitt-Health Palmyra. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jim Eubanks will officiate. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
Born in Albany, GA and a life-long resident, Mrs. Dekle was retired from Flint River Textiles. She was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lige Smallwood and Flossie Owens Smallwood; her husband of 71 years, Carlos Q. Dekle, Jr.; and her great granddaughter, Haley Darrow.
Survivors include her son, Richard Lige Dekle (Patricia), and a daughter, Charlotte Dekle Lindsey (Wilber) all of Albany, GA; two sisters, Geraldine Hagans of Petersburg, PA and Nora Singleton of Leesburg, GA; six grandchildren, Stephanie Whitcomb, Kimberly Nix, Angela Giles, Kristie Darrow, Amy William, and Benjamin Lindsey; 18 great- grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
