Billie K. Tucker, 78, of Albany, GA, died June 4, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate. Interment will follow in Pelham City Cemetery.
A native of Mitchell County, GA, Mrs. Tucker was born to the late William (Bill) and Katherine Goodson Jones. She graduated from Camilla High School in 1950 and attended Valdosta State College. Mrs. Tucker was a member of The First Baptist Church of Putney and was a retired Civil Service Employee.
After her retirement, Mrs. Tucker was active in Voter Registration and volunteered in the office and at the polls. She was passionate about square dancing and was a member of The Crisp Flutter Wheels of Cordele, The Wheel Arounds of Albany and The Quad City Round Dances of Warwick. She was the widow of Jack C. Tucker (USMC RET.).
Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Sherron and Billy Denby of Albany, GA, a son and his wife, David and Robie Tucker of Albany, GA, three grandchildren, Andrea Arnold and Kendra Phillips both of Albany, GA and Lindsay Tucker of Thomasville, GA and one great-grandchild, Dylan Arnold of Albany, GA.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday at Mathews Funeral Home.
The family is at the residence of Sherron and Billy Denby, 3410 Forest Ridge Drive, Albany, GA, 31721.
