Betty A. Smith

Betty A. Smith, 77, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her residence. Graveside funeral services will be held Sunday, December 6, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Ronnie Kinsaul will officiate.

A native of Cairo, GA, Mrs. Smith moved to Albany, GA in 1953 and graduated from Albany High School in 1958. She was employed with Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital for thirty four years and retired in 2001. She was a Baptist by faith. She was preceded in death by the father of her children Charles A. Apperson, her ex-husband Edward Smith, her father John W. Parker and her mother Maggie M. Carter Morey.

Survivors include two daughters, Debra Mays and Shirley Cannon and her husband, Eddie all of Albany, GA, a son, Tony Apperson of Leesburg, GA, a sister, Mary McDuffie of Albany, GA, a brother Roy Parker and his wife Sandra of Jonesboro, GA, four grandchildren, Wayne Baltzell of Leesburg, GA, Sherri Cannon of Savannah, GA, Rhonda Cannon of Jacksonville, FL and Candace Baltzell-Carter and her husband, Kevin of Marianna, FL, three great-grandchildren, Meredith Baltzell and Elizabeth Baltzell both of Leesburg, GA and Cheyenne Carter of Marianna, FL and two step-great-grandchildren, Amanda Carter and Logan Carter both of Marianna, FL, and three nieces and three nephews.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
