Betty Louise Mims, 85, of Albany, GA, died February 22, 2025. A memorial service is being planned for a future date.
Mrs. Mims was born on August 19, 1939 in Bells, TN. She spent her early years in an orphanage in Nashville, TN. Later, Mrs. Mims was sponsored and attended The Vashti Boarding School for Girls in Thomasville, GA. After graduation, she met her future husband, Edward Eugene Mims. They married in 1958 and she was a Military Wife until his retirement in1973.
Mrs. Mims was a wife, homemaker and was also employed with Rose’s Department Store and The Commissary at The Marine Corps Logistic Base. She enjoyed arts and crafts, including painting, ceramics and leaded glass.
Survivors include her husband, Gene Mims of Albany, GA, her children, Rebecca (Carl) Kanyuck of Hollister, CA, Robert Mims of Columbus, GA and her daughter-in-law, Meg Mims of Albany, GA, her grandchildren, Kim Kanyuck, Kyle Kanyuck and Robert Mims and seven great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her son, Jonathan Mims.
