Betty Jean Massey

Betty Jean Massey, 66, of Albany, GA, died Thursday, July 14, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Graveside services will be held Monday at 10:00 AM at Leesburg Cemetery. Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Americus, GA Mrs. Massey had lived most of her life in Albany, GA. She was a homemaker and was of the Baptist Faith. Mrs. Massey was preceded in death by a grandson, Robert Eric Purvis, a great-grandson, Hayden Alexander Durrence, brothers, Edward Mercer, Lewis Mercer and Clyde Mercer.

Survivors include her husband, Johnny Massey of Albany, GA, two daughters Angela Jenkins and her husband Tim of Albany, GA, and Sandra Lang of MS, a son, John Lang of TX, a grandson, Nicholas Purvis of Albany, GA, two brothers, William Mercer of Sylvester, GA and Johnny Mercer of AL, four sisters, Martha Rushin, Virginia Hart and Ruby Jones all of Americus, GA and Patsy Noble of AL.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday at Mathews Funeral Home.
