Betty Jo Harrell

Betty Jo Harrell, 77, of Putney, GA, died May 21, 2017 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Jeff Ezell will officiate. Interment will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

Born in Mitchell County, GA to the late Rudolph and Julia Mae Batchelor, Mrs. Harrell was raised in Vada, GA. She moved to the Albany area in since the late 1950's. She was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was her life and she enjoyed taking care of them and her late husband, Joe Wayne Harrell. She loved to play the guitar and to honor the Lord by performing at Church and other venues. Mrs. Harrell also enjoyed camping and fishing. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Putney.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Janet Harrell and two brothers, Boots Hayes and Bobby Ray Batchelor, Survivors include her sons, Riley Joe "Joey" Harrell and Billy Joe Harrell both of Putney, GA, two brothers, Waymon Batchelor of Albany, GA, Roger Batchelor and his wife, Gloria of Cairo, GA, a sister-in-law, Linda Batchelor of Albany, GA, seven grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
