Bessie Hilda Barber

Bessie Hilda Barber, 87, of Albany, GA., died Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Memorial services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. today, April 4, 2014 at First Baptist Church of Putney. Dr. Tab Howell will officiate.

Born in Waycross, GA Mrs. Barber and her husband moved to Albany in 1965 after years of traveling with the military. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Putney, served as Treasure for Women's Air Force Association, and was a former volunteer for the Red Cross. She was preceded in death by her husband James Francis Barber, Sr.

Survivors include a daughter Cecelia Johnson, a son James Barber Jr., one grandson Christopher Johnson, four granddaughters Stephanie Barber, Jennifer Carter, Kelly Johnson, and Laura Strawder, and eight great grandchildren.
