Bertha J. Pressley Diaz

Bertha J. Pressley Diaz, 72, of Linden Hurst, NY, formerly of Albany, GA, passed away September 27, 2015 at Central Island Healthcare in Oyster Bay, NY. Graveside funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 10, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at Tift Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Tifton, GA. Mrs. Lisa Lawson will officiate.

Born and raised in Tifton, GA Bertha moved to Albany with her family as a teenager. She married Victor Diaz in 1960 and resided in the area for nine years before relocating to New York. She was formerly employed with Educational Bus Transportation and West Babylon School District. Bertha enjoyed roller skating, dancing, bowling, and cheering on the New York Mets in her free time. She is preceded in death by her parents Nelma Jo and Leonard Pressley, and a sister Linda Pressley Barnes.

Survivors include her husband Victor Diaz Sr. five children Victor Diaz Jr. and wife Maria of San Antonio, TX, David Diaz and wife Luz Maria of Charlotte, N.C., Anthony Diaz and wife Connie of Enterprise, FL, Marisol Getchius and husband George of Deer Park, NY, and Geoffrey Diaz and wife Robyn of Memphis, TN. a sister Brenda Wilson and husband Witcher Wilson of Albany, GA, seven grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
