Barry D. McCray

Barry D. McCray, 57, of Port Republic, VA, formerly of Albany, GA, died Saturday, June 30, 2012 at Northern Hospital of Surry County, Mt. Airy, NC. Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 5, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate.

Mr. McCray had resided in Port Republic, VA for the past four years after moving from Albany, GA. He was a maintenance mechanic with Merck and Co, was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose, a Mason, and a Shriner. Mr. McCray was preceded in death by his parents, Eldred Homer McCray and Alma Schneider McCray.

Survivors include three sons: Kristopher McCray (Jennifer) of Shellman, GA, Chase McCray (Jessica) of Chaska, MN and Canon McCray (Amy) of Beverly Hills, FL; three brothers, Mike McCray of Albany, GA, Jim McCray (Diana) of Durham, NC, and Richard McCray (Lola) of Texas; two sisters, Kathy McCray of Leesburg, GA and Carol Cipriano of Texas; seven grandchildren, Kristopher McCray, Bryan Aycock, Lily McCray, Wyatt McCray, Makenzy McCray, Paisley McCray and Kason McCray.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 3:00 p.m. until funeral time at Mathews Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children International Headquarters 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607.
