Barbara Jean Reed

Barbara Jean Bryant Reed, 77, of Baconton, GA, died September 20, 2018 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.  Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at Andersonville National Cemetery. Rev. Darryl Byrnes and Rev. Chris Turner will officiate.

A native of Mullins, SC, Mrs. Reed graduated from Wingate University with an Associates Degree in Accounting.  She moved to Jacksonville, NC to work at Camp Lejeune and she met her late husband, Charles E. (Charlie) Reed.  They moved to Philadelphia, PA, to Dale City, VA and settled in Albany, GA in 1977.

Mrs. Reed was a homemaker and mother and was employed with the Dougherty County School System before retiring in 1998.  She was a member of The Crepe Myrtle Chapter of the Order of Eastern Star # 163, worked with the Rainbow Girls and supported Lighthouse Ministries.

Survivors include her children, Dawn Reed (Richard) Crawford of Baconton, GA and Megan Reed (Stuart) Byrnes of Topeka, KS, four grandchildren, Britta (Justin) Womack of Pelham, GA, Reed Basko, Shelton Byrnes and Lauren Byrnes all of Topeka, KS and two brothers, Jerry Bryant of Old Bridge, NJ and Johnny Bryant of Vincent Town, NJ.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Monday at Mathews Funeral Home.
