Barbara June Bates

Barbara Jean Bates, 86, of Albany, Ga, died March 13, 2025 at Pruitt Palmyra Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2025 at 4:00 pm at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.

Mrs. Bates was born in Blakely, GA on September 5, 1939 to the late Harry and Ollie Bates. She graduated from Blakely High School and moved to Albany, GA. Mrs. Bates was employed as an Admitting and Insurance Clerk with Palmyra Park Hospital and retired in 1971.

Mrs. Bates was a Christian by faith and served numerous churches including a being a member and Bible Class Teacher at Avalon Methodist Church and a member of Calvary Baptist Church. She was a teacher at the nursery department at First Assembly of God and taught Bible Study at Dawson Manor Nursing Home and Gillionville Baptist Church. Mrs. Bates especially enjoyed Organ Music and Church Choirs.

Survivors include her extended family and friends.

There will be a Celebration of Life for Barbara at Bianca’s on Monday, March 24th from 5:30pm – 7:30pm.
