Arthur C. Shoemaker

Arthur C. Shoemaker, 75, of Albany, GA, went home to Jesus on Saturday, February 14, 2015. He was at his daughter's residence in Georgetown, FL. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, February 20, 2015 at 3:00 p.m. at Avalon United Methodist Church. Rev. Dennis Lanning and Rev. Cathy Green will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Shoemaker was born in Alba, PA on September 6, 1939 and was a graduate of Troy High School in 1957 and served in the US Navy from 1957-1960. He was a resident of Albany, GA where he dedicated over thirty years as a volunteer. He was involved in many mission trips, received many awards and achievements from Avalon United Methodist Church. Love Thy Neighbor, Salvation Army, Life Line Ministries, Society of St. Andrew and the Boy Scouts of America. He was honored with the "book of Golden Deeds", Unity for Service by the National Exchange Club on March 21, 2014. Mr. Shoemaker was retired from HOWCO Supply and was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra S. Shoemaker, a son Cory T. Shoemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, (Jeannie) McCartney, Georgetown, FL, Shannan A. Kresge and Carrie L. Liabak, Lancaster, PA, thirteen grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family will receive friends at Avalon United Methodist Church on Friday from 1:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Love Thy Neighbor, Life Line Ministries, Society of St. Andrew or Avalon United Methodist Church.
