Armenda Purvis (Shorty) Turner

Armenda Purvis (Shorty) Turner, 84, of Leesburg, GA, died Saturday, August 17, 2013 at Phoebe North Medical Center. Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 4:00 p.m. at Sand Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery, Rupert, GA (Taylor Co., GA.)

A native of Charing, GA, Mrs. Turner had resided in Albany before moving to Leesburg, GA in 1957. She was a homemaker and a member of the First United Methodist Church of Leesburg. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter Purvis and Dora Weeks Purvis, brothers, Walter (Bubba) Purvis, John Purvis, Milan Purvis, William Purvis, her sisters, Louise Montgomery, Ree Brewer, and Winifred Posey.

Survivors include her husband, Alton Turner, a son, Buddy Turner (Jeannie) all of Leesburg, GA, two daughters, Judy Houston (Mike), Perry, GA, Lynn Turner Wilkes (Duane), Leesburg, GA, a sister, Betty Sawyer (Ronald), Columbus, GA, a brother-in-law, John Boyette Turner, Leesburg, GA, five grandchildren, Michael Houston, Holly Lick (Ron), Shane Wilkes (Jessica), Mendy Slappey (Casey), Kayla Peters (Ryan), great-grandchildren, Zach Houston, Cameron Houston, Wesley Lick, Parker Lick, Caleigh Ana Lick, Bailey Biedrzycki, Molly Slappey, John Slappey, Hunter Wilkes, Sara Wilkes and Ryleigh Peters.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
