Annette Kelly Simpson

Annette Kelly Simpson, 79, of Albany, GA, died September 3, 2024 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Friday at 1:00 pm at Mathews Funeral Home. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

Annette was born on June 28, 1945 in Columbia, AL to J. M. and Annie Pearl Kelly. She grew up in Columbia in a large family and graduated from Houston County High School in 1964.

Annette married William Henry Balkcom, Jr in 1965 and were married until his death in 1970. After his death, she met and married David Simpson and moved to Albany, GA, Annette was a member of Sherwood Baptist Church and attended Raleigh White Baptist Church until its closing.

Annette loved gardening, reading and being with her grandsons. In addition to her parents and first husband, she was preceded in death by her husband, Ira David Simpson, an infant son, William Keith Balkcom and her siblings, Edward Kelly, Marvette Kelly and Vickey Kelly.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Tony) Myers and her grandchildren, Tyler Myers and Daniel Myers all of Albany, GA, her siblings, Joyce Housley, Jan Kelly and Kim (John) Irvin all of Columbia, AL and Billy (Charlotte) Kelly of Dothan, AL, several special nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Friday before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm.
