Annabelle Vause Nazworth Perry Crisler, 93, of Albany, GA, died February 23, 2014 at Lee County Health and Rehabilitation Center. Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 2:00 PM at Andersonville National Cemetery. Rev. William Collins and Rev. Ronnie Kinsaul will officiate.
A native of Arran, FL, Mrs. Crisler was born to the late Jesse and Darthullah Griffin Vause. She attended school in Arran, Fl and Cairo, GA before moving to Albany, GA in 1951. Mrs. Crisler was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church in Albany, GA however in recent years, Porterfield United Methodist Church had ministered to her. She was employed as a Customer Service Representative with Sears for seventeen years and was a member of the Sears Best Club.
Mrs. Crisler's greatest legacy was her Christian example. She became a Christian at age 8 and truly exhibited the gifts of teaching, serving, giving, and being merciful. She taught Sunday School for 45 years, acted as WMU director, taught Bible school, sang in the choir, tithed, and opened her home to those in need. She baked pecan pies annually at Christmas for the Albany Rescue Mission and also her trash collectors. Her greatest loves were her Lord, her family, her friends, her church, her country, and her flowers. She was affectionately known as Granny by all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many of their friends. During the years her girls were growing up, she sewed exquisite dresses not only for them, but also for herself. Her favorite pastime was growing beautiful flowers and vegetables which she generously shared. When she was no longer able to work outside, she enjoyed reading, cooking, doing crossword puzzles, listening to the Gaithers and Elvis, and watching the Atlanta Braves. Always patriotic, she voted in every election and displayed her flag proudly.
Survivors include two daughters, Linda Perry Taylor and Rosanne Perry Lewis and her husband, Thomas all of Albany, GA, seven grandchildren, Melanie Messer Ezell and her husband, David of Opp, AL, Lisa Taylor Durden and her husband, Hugh of Leesburg, GA and Iron City, GA, Robert H. Taylor of Albany, GA, Russell Lawrence (Rusty) Nahlen of Camilla, GA, Rodney Nahlen and his wife Dawn of Kodiak, AK, Lindsay H. Lewis of Atlanta, GA, Hayley Lewis Van Antwerp and her husband, Bragg of Mobile, AL, eleven great-grandchildren, Hudson, Landon, Cameron, Brannon, Ashlyn and Weston Durden, Cade and Annabelle Ezell, Celeste Nahlen, and Thomas and Emory Van Antwerp, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her special Angel neighbor, Debbie Skaggs.
She was preceded in death by her husbands, Donald Louis Nazworth, Howard Allemong Perry and Thomas Nelson Crisler, two children, Norma Elaine Nazworth and Donna Nazworth Messer Nahlen, her sisters, Jennie Frances Vause Raker, Ollie Vause Rose, Ethel Vause Pelt, Thelma Vause Smith and Darthullah (Dot) Vause Woodfin and her brothers, Woodrow Vause, Cloyce (Frosty) Vause and Evander (Buddy) Vause.
The family will receive friends Wednesday from 5:30 PM until 7:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
