Mrs. Anna Laura Hall Jones Ponder, 92, of Albany, passed Tuesday, July 31, 2018.  At her request, her remains have been cremated and a celebration of her life as Albany’s longest dedicated and baptized (1944-2018) Jehovah’s Witness will be September 15, 2018, at Chehaw Creekside Event Center, Chehaw Park, 105 Chehaw Park Road, Albany, GA, from 2:00 PM until 7:00 PM. Family and friends who plan to attend should call 883-3071 to register their names and the names and number of guests in their car group. If not registered, there will be no admittance into the Park for this event.

Born and raised in Albany, Mrs. Ponder attended school in Albany, and subsequently, Florida A & M University (FAMU). Then, along with her brother went to Miami, Florida, where they served as full-time evangelizers.  Appointed by the Watchtower, Bible, & Tract Society, Inc., their responsibilities included hosting Gilead Bible School graduates en route to Haiti where these would serve as missionaries.

She was preceded in death by her husbands, Clarence Jones, Sr. and Rodgers Anderson Ponder, and two granddaughters, Edythe Shajuan Green and Sherethea Denisia Jones.

Her survivors include her children, Lorraine Green (Edward J. Green, DMD), Albany, GA, Deborah Andrews (Samuel), Augusta, GA, Clarence Jones, Jr., Albany, GA, Howard Theo Jones, Albany, GA, and Chiedza Anderson Ponder (Latoiya), Tallahassee, FL, 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
