Alexis V. (Alex) Turner

Alexis V. (Alex) Turner, 50, of Lee County, GA, died December 29, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Mark Spraggins will officiate. Interment will follow at Cordray Methodist Church Cemetery in Calhoun County.
A native of Leary, GA, Alex grew up in Putney, GA and graduated from Dougherty High School in 1981. He moved to Lee County, GA in 1985 and was employed with Merck & Company for eleven years. Alex was also employed with Cooper Tire Company and was currently employed with the Marine Corps Logistic Base as an electrician. He was a member of the Loyal Order of The Moose # 1285 and loved to work in his yard and grill.
Survivors include his children, Courtney Turner and Matthew Turner, his mother, Frances Turner, his sisters, Terry Turner Wood and Sherry Turner Johnson all of Lee County, GA, numerous nieces and nephews, his friend, Kim Sumner of Fitzgerald, GA and his dog, Dell. He was preceded in death by his father, James J. Turner.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 31, 2013 at Mathews Funeral Home.
