Pearl Floyd Nelms, 84, of Sylvester, GA formerly of Albany, GA died Wednesday, April 16, 2014 at her residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 24, 2014 at the First Baptist Church of Sylvester, GA. Dr. Ben Bush will officiate. Interment will follow in Sunset Cemetery in Meigs, GA.

A native of Merriville, GA, located in Thomas County, born to the late William Henry Floyd and Eddie Bell Floyd, Mrs. Nelms was raised in Coolidge, GA and moved to Albany, GA in 1960. She was married to the late Alvin Clinton Nelms and was employed at the Victory Club from 1960 until 1971 and was employed at Merry Acres Restaurant from 1971 until 1992. Mrs. Nelms was a former member of Lakeside Baptist Church and was a current member of the First Baptist Church of Sylvester. She was preceded in death by a son, Alan Nelms, five sisters, and four brothers.

Survivors include a daughter, Phyllis Nelms of Sylvester, GA, her grandchildren, Sheree (Mark) Harrell of Sylvester, GA, Clint (Kyla) Nelms of Doerun, GA, Jay (Claire) Owen of St. Augustine, FL, John (Julie) Owen of Milwaukee, WI, Katie (David) Sneed of Richardson, TX, Kari Owen of Murfreesboro, TN and Kristin Owen of Jacksonville, FL, her great-grandchildren, Curtis Creel, Sarah Harrell, Clayton Rogers, Taylor Nelms, Hayden Owen, Oliver Owen, Lincoln Owen and Eva Pearl Owen, a great-great-grandchild, Bentley Creel and two sisters, Leta Allmond of Evans, GA and Lilly Murray of Sneads Ferry, NC.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Mathews Funeral Home.
